Overview  
Using AutoCAD with an external relational database environment, Bentley's AutoPLANT P&ID creates intelligent plant schematics. With it, engineers can learn more about their plant design in a fraction of the time required to study hundreds of layout drawings or 3D models.

This cost-efficient application reduces the design and documentation time for capturing process information for system design and plant studies (such as HAZOP studies), ensuring compliance to OSHA 1910 and ISO standards. Through its scaleable design, AutoPLANT P&ID is suitable for large, midsized and small engineering companies and plant operators, providing a key tool for the lifecycle design and documentation of process plants.

AutoPlant P&ID is a complete package with all the components needed to create P&ID CAD drawings quickly and uniformly. By utilizing all the AutoCAD drawing functions, users familiar with AutoCAD will make large productivity gains by using the AutoPLANT P&ID package.

Fast, simple and consistent reports and lists

AutoPLANT P&ID populates a project database while the drawing is being created and modified.  By using labels with pre-defined fields, tag data format is always consistent and correctly inserted into the project database.  Reports are automatically extracted from the database in pre-defined formats.

 

Fast data consistency checking

AutoPLANT P&ID provides built-in consistency checking. It will check for connectivity and data consistency along pipe lines. Inconsistencies such as branch line sizes exceeding header sizes, or valve sizes different to line sizes without reducing components are highlighted and reported ensuring errors are reviewed and fixed sooner.

 

Consistent drawing quality

AutoPLANT P&ID uses spec-driven valve placement functions, drag-and-drop symbol placement, pre-defined linestyles and so on. These ensure drawings are created to project standards. All tags are pre-defined ensuring tag styles consistent across the project.

 

AutoCAD-based

AutoPLANT P&ID is based on AutoCAD ensuring that users can fully utilize their AutoCAD training while creating and editing P&IDs. With continuing support for the latest versions of AutoCAD, AutoPLANT P&ID leverages the latest features in AutoCAD and adds to AutoCAD’s productivity.

 

Integrated with external relational project database

AutoPLANT P&ID’s are created as part of a project. An external project database is automatically created according to the project data schema and all P&ID’s are linked to this database. This allows data to be shared across P&ID’s as well as across other design functions. 

The project database ensures data consistency for the whole project.  AutoPANT P&ID supports Microsoft Access, MSDE (Microsoft SQL Server Desktop Engine) for smaller projects and Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle for larger projects.

 

Scalable, for use on large or small projects

The AutoPLANT data architecture is specifically designed to be scalable. By using standard AutoCAD drafting tools and coupling with industry standard relational databases, AutoPLANT P&IDs will be productive on both large and small projects.

 

Comes complete with international standard symbol libraries

AutoPLANT P&ID comes with ISO and DIN standard symbol libraries. Linestyles also meet the various standards and the definition of the industry standard is part of the project creation process, ensuring all P&IDs are drawn to the same standard across the whole project.

 

Work in distributed environment with sub-contractors

AutoPLANT P&ID is a well proven product that has been used on hundreds of real projects and produced thousands of P&ID’s.  With an ability to be used in a stand-alone environment and utilizing the Bentley Split/Merge Project capabilities allows fully distributed workforces to collaborate on the project.

 

Compatibility with ISO15926

The AutoPLANT P&ID project data can be exported in an ISO 15926 compatible format for storage in Bentley’s Data Quality Manager or for export to any other application mapped to the ISO15926 schema.
