  • Based on standard platforms, both MicroStation and AutoCAD, ProSteel easily lets structural engineers, detailers, and fabricators create 3D models for both concrete and steel. 

    ProSteel provides automatic creation of documentation and details. The open working environment and programming interface supports standardization of the program.


  • The automatic creation of documentation and details increases productivity and therefore profitability. The detailing includes miscellaneous steel such as stairs, handrails, ladders, and circular stairs. The documentation provides 2D drawings from a 3D model, including bills of materials, NC data and PPS data.

  • ProSteel offers integration not only with Bentley products but also with third-party products. This capability eliminates duplication of effort and increases interoperability with other facets of the design chain, including structural analysis and design (such as STAAD and RAM) and plant design (AutoPLANT).

  • ProSteel can be easily customized and standardized due to its flexibility and the programming interface. Workflows are optimized due to this open working environment.

Using ProSteel with ProConcrete enables engineers to design, document, and detail composite structures. The combination of these two products is available under the ProStructures product suite.

1. Easy Input Concept

The fact that ProSteel 3D is a user-friendly 3D steel construction applications is due to the structure of the interface. All commands such as plate connections, ribs, web angles, notches, borings, and so forth always function according to the same principle. By selecting the building components that are to be connected, all you have to do is select the building components that are to be connected with one another. ProSteel 3D automatically shortens or lengthens the corresponding shapes, generates the desired joint, and screws all components together. Any necessary changes are already visible during the definition phase.

2. MicroStation and AutoCAD Platform

ProSteel 3D is based on AutoCAD, an industry standard platform. It easily provides an integrated worldwide offering for your daily work. Compatibility with the MicroStation platform will be available in late 2008.

3. Open Database

It is even possible to assign any individual shape series to several different databases, for example, defining different selection tables for each shape type in case of splice joints.

4. Teamwork without Limits

Several people working together on one project is a task specially supported by ProSteel 3D. It is  possible, for example, to position components as well as generate parts lists via several drawings.

ProSteel 3D does support all modern standard interfaces, such as SDNF and CIS/2. In addition, direct interfaces to other Bentley Systems solutions, such as STAAD-Pro and AutoPIPE, are provided.

5. International Standards and Databases

Due to its global distribution, ProSteel 3D does support different languages and includes more than 300 databases and standards from all over the world.

6. Editable Standards

A selection list (DAST standard) organized in table form is available for every type of joint, such as rigid plates, base plates, frontal plates, web angles, notches, and so on. It is also possible, however, to modify existing parameters or to redefine the joint completely. This makes it easy, for example, to insert a rigid plate according to DAST (IH3E) and then to modify this plate's dimensions or position. Standard values are always at your fingertips and you can react individually to any constructions task.

7. Non-Modal Dialog Boxes

This provides simplicity for the user. Interfacing with the program is easy and every entered value within a dialog box is immediately visible at the design part. You can also view the model from a variety of different views without having to cancel the command.

8. ACIS Support

The use of special technologies makes it possible to consider 3D bodies from other applications (ACIS volume bodies), such as Mechanical-Desktop, within ProSteel 3D. Moreover, it is also possible to convert any element of ProSteel 3D to ACIS bodies.

9. Simple Installation and Short Training

The use of the latest software technologies reduces the installation effort to just a few mouse clicks. The training time required to learn ProSteel 3D depends on the amount of previous knowledge a user has. It normally amounts to approximately two to five days.
