Overview
SewerGEMS is a fully dynamic, multi-platform, sanitary and combined sewer modeling solution. Engineers can analyze sanitary or combined conveyance sewer systems using built-in hydraulic and hydrology tools and a variety of wet-weather calibration methods. From urban sewer planning to overflow remediation analysis to optimized Best Management Practices designs, SewerGEMS provides an easy-to-use environment for engineers to analyze, design, and operate sanitary and combined sewer systems.

Users of SewerGEMS enjoy the power and versatility afforded by working across CAD, GIS, and stand-alone platforms while accessing a single, shared, project data source. With SewerGEMS, utilities and consultants have built-in support for four interoperable platforms, all packaged together in a single product:

  • Windows standalone for ease of use, accessibility, and performance;
  • ArcGIS for GIS integration, thematic mapping, and publishing;
  • MicroStation for bridging geospatial planning and engineering design environments; and
  • AutoCAD for convenient CAD layout and drafting.

Utilities and consultants can share a single dataset using different interfaces, and modeling teams can leverage the skills of engineers from different departments. Use SewerGEMS' implicit engine to solve the full St. Venant equations with stunning performance and numerical robustness, or the industry-standard EPA-SWMM engine for compliance with NPDES water quality regulations.

Built-in stormwater hydrology and calibration

Use and customize the built-in hydrology and engineering libraries with access to virtually any methodology to quickly load and estimate:

  • Rainfall
  • Infiltration
  • Time of concentration
  • Runoff hydrographs

Determining how much precipitation actually gets into the sewer is often difficult and time consuming. The RTK method, included in SewerGEMS, provides a simple and interactive technique for transferring precipitation into wet weather sewer loading.

Sanitary sewer load estimation

A broad range of methodologies help you allocate sanitary sewer loads. Apply hydrographs, patterned loads, and unit loads using a comprehensive and customizable engineering library.

Use the LoadBuilder module to leverage water consumption, flow monitoring, land use, or census data in your GIS to automatically estimate and import sanitary loads for your SewerGEMS model.
